This Saturday, we went to see The Phantom of The Opera at The Benedum Center.
I gotta tell ya, I don’t think I’ll be able to listen to the music the same way again. I was blown away.
The set design was fantastic, even though the chandelier was a bit small. The orchestra was amazing, in that they didn’t miss a beat. Even though the man playing the phantom could have had a lower voice, I was very impressed by his range. Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience, aside from the fact that halfway through act I, I had to pee so bad my ears and hands started to tingle and go numb. I don’t think I’ve ever held it for that long 🙂
My parents came down for the musical and stayed until Sunday, which was nice because we don’t get a chance to visit as much as we used to. I blame myself mostly, lately I’ve been exhausted by the time I get home, and sometimes look forward to just crashing at home for the weekend.
In ham radio news, I got my new repeater directory book, and a Now You’re Talking book for Sue to start her journey into Amateur Radio. I was listening to 146.880 tonight and caught the under 21 ‘teen net’, which I think is a great idea. I wish there were more ham radio enthusiasts when I was growing up, I would have jumped at the chance to work HF when I was younger. If this hobby is to persist, we’ve got to get the younger generation involved in it, and it’s nice to see that they are involved.
So all in all, this has turned out to be a very good weekend, despite the fact that I feel like I’m going to pass out. I think an early bedtime might be in order for me tonight. Sue has a new job, and it starts tomorrow, so we’ve got to get up earlier than usual to make sure she gets there in time.
It’s over now, the music of the night….
